The Russell Home has a rich history dating back to 1951 when Mrs. Russell first opened her home. We want to share some of our history, so check back here for stories about our residents and some of the events that have helped make us what we are today!

Amy Thomas has been a resident at Russell Home for more than 40 years. Amy’s mother came to Grandma Russell when the emotional and physical stress of Amy’s special needs became too overwhelming and she knew she needed help…

Kenny Daly

Kenny Daly

Kenny’s parents brought Kenny to Grandma Russell in 1951 at the age of 18 months old. His father was an Air Force Pilot stationed at McCoy Air Force Base. The family had to leave for overseas, so Kenny stayed with Grandma Russell.

Lisa and Jackie

Social Services Brought Lisa to Russell Home in 1971. Four years later Lisa’s mother contacted “Grandma Russell” about another child, Jackie, Lisa’s sister. Big sister looked after her little sister and they have happily lived at Russell Home ever since.

Benjamin Leary

The local police department brought Benji to Grandma Russell in 1971 after a family dispute. He was in a wheelchair and had very little use of his arms. He immediately became part of the family! His relationship with Grandma was very special and he will be the first to tell you he is and was her favorite!
